Let's get to know each other

I first stumbled upon UX in college. I got my BS in Cognitive Science at the University of California Santa Cruz, and during my time there I worked at two research labs in our department. It was there that I was introduced to UX Research, and I went on to learn that UX is so much more than just research. The seed was planted.

I taught myself how to use Adobe Xd, did many hours of research on the UX field in general, and ultimately decided to invest in my future by joining a UX bootcamp. In the bootcamp I was able to hone in on my UX research and design skills and really starting building a name for myself as a designer.

When i'm not busy designing, I am either laying around with my dogs or getting my workout in. Fitness has been a super important part of my journey both physically and mentally, and I know I wouldn't have gotten where I am without the benefits of physical activity. On the weekends, i'm usually at a brewery or trying a new restaurant. There's nothing like chasing a good workout with a calorie-dense meal!

Not coming from a design background has had its' ups and downs. It is incredibly difficult to kickstart a career in something that that requires so much skill, without any direct experience. However, I truly believe that my background prepared me well for the trials and tribulations of being a UX Designer. Paralegal work has helped me become empathetic toward clients and comfortable with teamwork and collaboration. Personal Training has allowed me to develop my interpersonal skills and time management. Each phase of my life has, in some way, led me to UX. I have developed unique and applicable skills that will benefit my clients and employers in a special way. Making that realization has been one of the best parts of this journey.

Throughout my experience, I have acquired the skills to brainstorm, research, design, test and iterate. I am especially happy to be able to complete each step of the process with the human experience in mind. I want to make a difference in the way humans interact with technology. Gone are the days that we have to learn how the machine works. It’s time for the machine to understand us, and I want to be an important part of that.

I am dedicated to creating meaningful interactions and designs to elevate the user experience, and I believe there is always something to be learned. Wherever the wind may take me, I strive to absorb new knowledge and insights from the people, places, and things around me. Being connected and observant of one's physical environment paves the way for connection through the online one!
